Because the thermostat is installed separately from the heater, it measures the actual room temperature instead of the warmer air surrounding the heater. The problem with most heaters is that as the warm air leaves the heater, it quickly rises to the ceiling where it collects. This is what you're seeing in the infrared images of the space heater and baseboard heater.
Most heaters do very little to mix the warm air they produce with the cooler air already in the room, so the upper part of the room becomes much warmer than the lower part. Before the room feels comfortable where you're standing, a large amount of heat has already collected near the ceiling where it provides little benefit.
The ASH Innovations room heater was designed to solve this problem. A powerful fan directs warm air across the floor, where it mixes with the cooler air before it has a chance to rise. Instead of allowing warm and cool air to remain in separate layers, it is thoroughly mixed and circulated throughout the room. The result is faster, more even heating that makes your bathroom more comfortable while saving energy.

For primary heating, it can heat approximately 150 square feet. For supplemental heating (providing additional heat while your home's heating system is operating), it can heat up to 200 square feet.

It requires a dedicated circuit. While this makes the installation more involved, it prevents the possibility of overloading a circuit which can cause fires and trip circuit breakers.
